I fell in love with this Barbie's face, but didn't want to pay the full price of $24.99 (for all the plastic accessories really), so I watched for a sale. Sure enough, she showed up with a $10 price tag so I brought her home. After looking closer, I realized that the doll and the box pictures don't exactly match. Her hair is totally different! Even the photos on the back of the box have a shorter/curlier style. I may get ambitious enough to give her a perm and make her look more like she's supposed to look. Or not. She's still cute.

Yeah, that is a cute style on the box. It's like these companies don't care if we notice inconsistencies, though.

I mean, that picture not matching what's inside has ALWAYS been a thing. I can remember as a kid seeing the "colors and styles may very" on the boxes. I guess maybe you could pretend the box art is pre-surfing session, and the doll herself is from after the salt water got to her curls.
