Barbie-type Limb Replacement

Postby SavantInamorata » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:13 pm

Ok, so I've searched and failed to find any tutorials. If I want to take legs from a jointed Ken, and attach them to another male doll, is it possible? Peeking inside they seem to have some sort of elastic band holding them together. Has anyone done this, or have a link to somewhere that shows how to? Thanks for reading.

What doll were you going to attach these legs to?

The thing to do is put that head on a Fashionista Ken body. He already has jointed knees as well as other joints. The head of that doll should fit right onto that body without any mods done.

Not on a male doll (yet), but I have mounted posable legs on a non- posable body. The biggest pain about it is figuring out where to drill through the plastic between the hips- take a good look at how the leg donor's inner hip area is designed.
Here's a link to a leg re-stringing, with pictures:

It's for a Barbie, but will be close enough to show what goes on in each step.

She doesn't actually show feeding the elastic through the legs- if I can find a pic, I'll post it.

Another option is a LIV Jake body. He has knee joint as well as other joints. No mods needed. There again the head should fit right on.

Thanks guys, those links and suggestions are a big help! Anyone also have a link for a tutorial on transferring the head of a male doll? The leg donor I wanted to use I think is a Fashionista Ken. I just pick up the dolls at yard sales, and I will be keeping my eyes open for some of the male LIV dolls.

Here you go.

I use the hot water method to remove heads. First take a measuring cup and fill with water. I put mine in the microwave for about 2 minutes. (make sure it's not boiling water) I sit doll in sink and slowly pour the hot water over head. Then take a towel and pull head off. :D

What about Bratz arms? I just found a Movie Bratz doll and the arms are better than the Party Bratz but the rest of the body is better on the Party Bratz. Would I just heat them and pop them out?

I have a similar Aladdin and he is big compared to Ken much much bigger than a Bratz. His neck is very thick and might look funky on a Ken. Movement wise the knees are like Barbie click and there's enough straddle to the hips that he could sit on a horse.

Definitely wait for him to arrive before getting a body because he has a unique skin tone, I don't think Liv Jake would match, nor would any Kens I know of. They might make them very hard to hybrid on purpose.

My Aladdin, same body.

Dr Foreman, the AA girl, is on a Movie Bratz body. The blond over House's left shoulder is a Ken.
