New Bratzillas...

Postby magkelly » Thu Dec 27, 2012 4:23 pm

I'm a bit shaken up so I am going to make this brief. I just got into a bad situation with some nut of a guy messing with me and it's left me all weirded out. I went into Target after and bought myself a new doll with a gift card I had. Actually I bought two. I needed a little bit of doll therapy after that. Anyway they had these glow in the dark Bratzilla's and are they are ever INTERESTING. I've been debating on a Sasha for a while because while I like her snake eyes I don't really think the rest of her looks very serpentine. Add a glow in the dark body and she's totally Lamia-esque! These dolls are from some kind of beach theme. Can't say I like the outfits much but the hair looks better. All the dolls have front facing eyes too which I like much better.

Of course I also got the Meygan. She has the same color hair but it's long and straight and her eyes are a deeper but sparkly blue, kind of like what I had already done with one of my triplets only of course better and she's got the GITD skin too. She looks very different from my triplets. I did not like the Cloe at all. That dual color thing just is not working for me and it works even less with the GITD skin I think. I kind of like the Yasmin but I didn't have enough for 3. I'll have to get her the next time I see her. I probably will though as I like her eyes and her hair is two shades of purple and looks rather nice.

There are some dance dolls too but they only had the Cloe and the Yasmin for those. I'm going to have to check out the Meygan online to see what she looks like but doubtless they'll get those in at some point too. The older dolls and the outfits are on clearance. But the two outfits I actually wanted the teal one and the green one were unfortunately gone. Darn...

Pic later. I'm not in any shape to take any at the moment. But I will. Here, for now, but they're darker the ones I've got, a bit more green. OH, and there's a Lagoona type character though I didn't see her. Teach me not to check out the back of the box....I missed a siren!!!

They're all on Amazon now but only for some pretty high sums. The Midnight Beach and the Magic Night Out ones. Looking at them I think I might just get a couple more of the GITD ones for this round. Other than nicer hair maybe the Magic Night Meygan looks the same as the first one....

I like their looks a bit better than the first versions. I may have to find room for them on my dolly shelves.

She does have a cute outfit... not so sure I like the glow in the dark thing, though.
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

I actually kind of like the skin tone color. It's a bit like alabaster. It's softer not quite such a deathly white. It's not really green, green it's pale and sort of see through. The GITD thing is cool but ultimately it's just a gimmick. I just liked the slight green tinge. It sort of fits considering they're supposed to be like witches or something. It's not as in your face as the Tonner or MA green witch dolls but but they do look a little unearthly. It works very well with Sasha's eyes in particular. She kind of loses her usual ethnicity which I definitely wouldn't want for every Sasha doll but in this case it works because she's obviously supposed to be serpentine.I look at this doll and I think of Bram Stoker's Lair of the White Worm or an old alabaster statue of the Lamia. With those eyes and that skin tone it's almost like she's this other character completely and it really works. You could have both on the shelf and they could be different people absolutely. I plan on adding more green to her hair in some way. I want her to look like a snake goddess or like the ancient myths of Melusine. She's probably make a really great dragon repaint too but I'm not going there...

I've got a few glow in the dark dolls or ons with hair that does and it's kind of neat. They aren't bright like a night light but you can't miss them. They also glow under black lights.

I've been eyeballing these girls since they popped up in stores. The clothes work on my 21cm obitsu gal very nicely. Other that that and their eyes I've been holding off and after reading your reviews about their hair I think I'll keep holding off for now. $20 is a lot to pay for crappy hair and missing plugs.

Although if I find the mermaid gal I probably won't be able to pass her up.

The hair on the newer ones looks better than on the first wave. I haven't opened mine as yet. I had a bad day today. I'm kind of sick again so I'm holding off for a few days until I feel up to doing it but I'll let you know. They look a lot better though.

I think Bratzillas are bigger than 21cm dolls. They still make some regular Bratz and Moxie girls and clothes packs that are closer to 21cm size.

Another vote in favor of the GITD skin and its greenish shade! As gimmicks goes I think it's a pretty good one, and a bit unexpected for a realistic-ish fashion doll, even given the overall style of the line. The odd proportions of the torso vs limbs really puts me off these dolls, though...
