Wondering who has the freya hujoo?

Postby tyggereye » Thu Jul 25, 2013 5:54 am

I'm kinda interested in getting one, but after seeing all the head issues I'm worried. I have seen some on ebay for good prices and I'm worried those are the old defective head ones. I also am worried about eyes fitting in it right. I know they aren't that expensive of dolls, and not resin...but I don't want to spend even that much on a doll and have it give me headaches ya know?

What do you all think? I really like the light grey freya and would like to model her after my cat.

I just (as in it arrived last week), got one of the white Freya. As far as I can tell all the Freya use the multi-angled head piece, it's the Freyr (the male ones) that have the redesigned head pieces. I've removed the pieces a couple times and while it's stiff, it wasn't too hard. I'm considering replacing the pegs with magnet pairs to hold the head on, but would need pretty strong magnets at the neck as it seems to put some pressure there.

Her eye sockets aren't as forgiving as I'm used to (then again my other dolls are all obitsu vinyls). I have 18mm eyes installed in her and they don't quite fit, but given she is hard plastic and is supposed to have 16mm eyes, that's expected.

All said and done though, I don't regret getting her, even if she's a completely different size from the the rest of my dolls.

Yours is lovely. I thought I read that they had redone the freya head also. Hmm... bummer. Yours looks good though. I've seen much worse gaps on many. I've heard they take 16 mm eyes, but there are gaps when they have the 16mm. Yours with 18mm doesn't have the gap at all. I probably will get one I'm sure. I just love the look of them. For 60 bucks (tax and all) I can work with it. Thanks for the pictures. If you get yours new eyes or anything I hope you'll share. :)

I thought there was a tiny bit of a redesign between the first production run and the regular release - but just on the head pegs/holes. There was certainly less peg filing needed to get my regular white and light grey heads closed acceptably than there was with the first run dark greys! But it wasn't a complete redesign.

Have some bad camera phone pics of a light grey Freya, just in case Oniakki's better ones of a white Freya hadn't fully convinced you ;) Please excuse the background clutter...

16mm eye, 3/4ish view - there's a bit of a gap, but it's only really noticeable up close

16mm eye, front view. Her face-up, like her eyes, work best not in close up

I was actually just thinking about hunting down an 18mm baller bit for a dremel or drill and enlarging the non-visible part of the sockets, so the eyeballs themselves aren't quite so sunken in, but she's growing on me as she is at the moment. I will definitely be sharing more on them here. ^.^

That's easily possible, sadly I can't compare them. (I have a micrometer, but not one of the first run Freya.)

Mine have gappy heads, but I just don't care. The wigs cover them up.

Both are first runs designs.

I was disappointed mine had the "gappy head" and for the longest I thought, "meh" and stuck it on a shelf. I feel rather derpy, it had never occurred to me a wig would hide the gap. I wasn't going to use a wig on mine but now I think I will. They look cute like that. :-p
