Dollieh Set-Ups?

Hello dollieh lovers! I'm curious as to what kind of set-ups and homes you have for your marvelous families?
I'm only one year into collecting BJDs, and I'm having a hard time finding a satisfactory set up. :?
I want to have sunlight in my room, but I don't want my children constantly exposed to it.
I'm tempted to construct/obtain an armoire type thing so I can have the door closed when I'm not home, or when am not able to play with all of my children and just have one or so out.
Do any of you have a similar set up?
(Sorry if there was a thread already like this! This is my first time on in a while ^^')
Thank you!!

I have a log home with a loft where I spend all my time (computer, tv, sewing machine...). It has only a small skylight and one small window on the end, so the lighting up here really sucks for photographs of the dolls, but is GREAT for the dolls! Aside from that... I have a set of those wire cubes, I have them built into a tower and I call it my doll apartments. The newlyweds, Nagi and Riou have the top level penthouse, Momiji has the next room down and it seems that Toushirou is bunking with him, the tinies Touda and Kantarou have the next level, and the bottom is storage (mostly for Momiji's clothes!)

They started on a shelf in my bookcase, but outgrew that pretty quickly...

if you don't want to lock them away, and have availible homespace, you can give them a room to hang in. if you have a room with a north facing window (depending where you live of course) you might not get any direct sunlight into the room. or, cheat, and get room darkening curtains for when you aren't in there.
i'm like yanagi-san, i keep them in my workroom (actually, all my toys are in there) on bookshelves or hanging wall cubes. things tend to migrate around in there.

I have two large bookcases that I bought at Walmart for about $30 each. They were the cheap, assemble-it-yourself kind. Then I bought a couple of cheap colorful bedsheets and fastened them to the top with screws, so they hang down over the shelves. Not the prettiest method, but effective at keeping both light and dust off the dollies when I'm not playing with them. :)

My only problem now is I'm running out of shelves! Might soon be time to add a third bookcase to the collection, or else store the doll clothing bins somewhere else. heh ^^;

>_> mine are mostly hanging out on bookshelves and windowsills, since I don't have anywhere else to put them

My one resin kiddo stays wrapped in his cushion most of the day, because my bedroom is fairly sunny.

<_< one of my Obitsus has a resin head, but I leave him out in the sun and he hasn't changed color yet, as far as I can tell...

My guys have their apartment in a big computer armoire I made from Sauder company.
The doors, when open, block the light from the window.
and can close from prying eyes...
Lots of shelves for their stuff and mine

I'm not really one to open the blinds in my room, and my windows have UV block on them because my room gets hot. But two of my dolls (my shorter ones) hang out in a single cube shelf filled with small toys and doll-sized nickknacks to keep them occupied (and away from the cats, since the cats are very interested in my dolls' furry components). The other two (the MSDs) spend their time side-by-side on a wicker chair on my desk, which keeps them up and out of the clutter and keeps them from tipping over :)

For taking pictures I usually just move where my dolls are. Currently all of the resin dolls sit on doll furniture on my dresser. I drap cotton pillowcases on top of them, since the light is a spot lamp. When taking pictures on that space I turn off the spot lamp, remove the pillow cases and open the blind, since they sit below a large window.

I'm hoping to buy a bookcase to display them and attach fabric to block out light when I'm not there.

I'm building a big dollhouse for my 1/4 dolls, but the project is on hold until I have a good working space because it is, well, huge :-P

My dolls tend to remain nekkid in their boxes most of the time, with the room in question having the curtains drawn... Until I get a larger living space they shall have to remain a rare treat that are only taken out for photos/ touch-ups to their styles.

The exception to this rule is Garan - which may be foolhardy considering he's tan resin... He sits in the corner of my desk at uni, looking fairly serene whilst I'm tearing my hair out! (I'd be too scared to bring Drax anywhere near my current uni; my previous one was not such an issue but Drax is the spoilt one of the gang, and my 1st ever large doll! So I suppose he's even more precious than the others)
