Angelsdoll Discussion Thread

I love Angelsdoll's dolls. They are amazingly beautiful and high quality, the two I have are two of my favourites, and they are incredibly well priced. (The company is run in a way more artistic than businesslike, but everyone gets what they paid for in a reasonable amount of time, and that's what matters.)

But the fans terrify me. Every decision by the company is met with entitled whining that they didn't make things to a couple of fan's exact specifications. And they are not content to whine. They bombard the company with harassing emails and message board posts, and seem to do all but claim design credit - then have their noses put severely out of joint when all their suggestions aren't taken up.

The worst thing is that the owners of Angelsdoll seem to have very low self-confidence, and perfectly lovely bodies are taken off the market and re-jigged over and over and over again in an attempt to get it "right". And then they are always abused for their improvements. I also think they were scared off their plans to release silicone dolls by being barraged with negativity from DoA poeople who don't want dolls produced that they can't post there - and I am sad about that. I'm not as in love with resin as all that. If I was to get a first silicone doll, Angelsdoll one would be a good bet.

As one of the first people to take up their dolls (more expensive back then, too) I hate going to their thread on the Other Forum. It almost puts me off the company. But I am so looking forward to their 40cm mature range (this also was evil of them - how DARE they plan on a smaller range when the fans have TOLD them they only want big dolls? And don't they know MSDs are SUPPOSED to be childlike? OMG, it might even be a FASHION DOLL!), and human Iesuel is the closest thing to a 3D K-pop star I've ever seen and is severely testing my no-new-bjds resolution.

Seriously, no one has to like every doll, or every company. And you should be free to say so, and to keep your money. But I don't really understand people who claim to be fans and then act like playground bullies towards the company itself - or anyone who disagrees with their opinion.

Sorry to rant here. But it was that or go back into the thread and start flaming. :?

Here is a picture of lovely Ieseul, who is currently testing my resolution to get no more bjds, as an apology for all this rantiness. $200 of sweet, perfect smiling beauty. I fell more relaxed already, looking at her.

How dare they make a doll with teeth like that! Don't they know that I am not pleased! I am the most important customer . . . wait . . . I haven't bought a doll from them yet. Ahem . . . I guess I should do that before feeling entitled enough to whine about anything, huh?

I think these kind of people exist in all of the doll brands. I've heard that even expensive and highly esteemed brands like Soom have their complainers. Maybe they're not as noticeable because there are more followers making the complainers a bit harder to hear.

It's not a completely horrible thing. If I were a doll company and there was a huge outcry because of one of my plans, I might want to reconsider. Companies don't want to lose customers.

That's not to say that the Angelsdoll should change their minds about a potential new item because the fan following panics about it. As much as some people hate change, it can be a good thing and open up new opportunities.

Part of the problem too is that whiners are always more vocal than the people who don't have complaints. You have to figure that for every one whiner there are at least 3 people who are perfectly happy.

Greyhaunt pretty much hit the nail on the head. I

'm always lurking in the angelsdoll threads and honestly there are only two people who constantly post (sometimes 2 or 3 times in a row >.> ) that complain all the time. Now complaints about thin resin and the like are real problems that probably do need to be addressed, but all the 'wah wah you changed the body to something I don't like!' is just bollocks.

If they are going to make 40cm dolls, I can only hope that they make a doll similar to Hyang!

I've been loving her for a long time, but SDs are just soooo big. haha

Oh gosh I know exactly who you guys are talking about too. No names, of course, since this isn't a hate thread. But I hang out in the Angelsdoll discussion thread on heheh.... The Other Forum as well, and I keep saying time and again that I'm not going back, but somehow I end up doing it anyway, because I really do love AD, and I feel bad for any newcomers to the thread that get pounced on. I tried stepping up and telling them there was no reason to call the dolls "ugly" and accuse Angelsdoll of ripping Dollshe designs when it doesn't "match their personal aesthetic" and they jumped down my throat and said they were just voicing their opinions. Um....no, you were being outright insulting. If they don't like it, they don't have to buy it. I just went about posting as though they had never said anything at all. I love Den of Angels, I really do. It's a great resource, and if you find the right threads to hang out in, *coughcoughResinSoulcough* then there are amazing, friendly people. Actually a number of them are here on DS as well. -waves to them-

But my Kloze is in New York as we speak, so I'll spam plenty of pretty pictures of him here on DS. You should come hang out, guys, so we can friendly-up that thread. Maybe eventually we can drown out those individuals. It's not as though they can ban us from the thread.

I always feel terribly bad for the companies when people say unkind things about their dolls. I'm sure they're super proud of their work and feel kicked in the teeth when complainers come around. I know it would dishearten me!
Hopefully, they've developed a thick skin about unfair comments and keep going on with their awesome work!!

OkamiKodomo-san, I've actually started the order for 2 dolls from them yesterday!!!!! A Shakan on a Vers 2 slim male body and a Ieseul on a Vers 1 slim male body. (I don't plan to keep Ieseul on that body, but I needed both the head and body!) So I'll probably start posting anticipation posts on the Angelsdolls thread soon!!! :laughs: Can't wait to see your Kloze photos!!! Their headsculpts are so amazingly lifelike from their promo pictures!!!!!! Please take LOTS of photos!!!!!!!! ^^

Just took a look at their dolls and I think it's really interesting that they sculpt teeth in their dools. Not really for me, but I think it's that little bit of extra detail that says the company cares. They aren't badly priced either.

Another on my list of "Dolls from companies I'd order from".

Complainers are everywhere, for every aspect of life. There's always someone complaining without a real basis for it. It all boils down to their preferences and it's like "If it's not matching up to your preferences, just stop badly reviewing the company." It's one thing if it's poor quality or customer service, it's an entirely different thing if it's just "I DON'T LIKE THIS SCULPT/PRODUCT SO THAT MAKES THIS COMPANY TERRI-BAD"

See that's not the problem. The problem is that these particular individuals brow-beat the company into things, and react with this gawdawful sense of entitlement. It's such a shame. When the subject was brought up of a line of 1/4 size dolls, these few people started ranting about how it's such a bad idea, and how Angelsdoll should absolutely not do this, because they only want the bigger dolls. Nevermind that obviously there's a demand for 1/4 dolls because they're the only people speaking against the 1/4 size. Everyone else is 'yay!' Though I did notice the most recent time it was brought up, they were much more mellow about it, because there were more people in the thread talking about it being a good thing.

I just have to be soooo very careful about how long and how often I post in that thread, because I get to the point where I want to verbally tear them apart, and that's drama that nobody wants. I love chatting with the other people there too much to risk getting myself banned for starting a flame war.

Lily, Setsuna, you should come help friendly-up the place! Sherlock (I believe she goes by Glitterbird here on DS?? Correct me if I'm wrong) HelterSkelter (don't know if she's on DS and if so, what her user name is) and I have been doing our best to drown out the negativity.
