Pullip - Obitsu plasti-melt?

Is there still plasti-melt if you keep the original body on? I am debating buying my first pullip.
I recently sold off my 40cm parabox which I do slightly miss but she was too big for my desk and displaycase.
I did wander across several tutorials on how to obi-pullip. Is the melt issue only on the older models, or does it effect the recently released heads as well?
Other pullip nooby question, is there a way besides tape to prevent the chemical reaction?
I love the obitsu bodies since they are durable and look pretty decent. But not sure if I wish to have a newer doll around $100+ going into chernobyl mode.
Off topic for a sec.....I thought about going hujoo berry with obi body but her face sculpt seems a bit chibi. Hujoo body/head vs pullip are a massive difference (was trying to keep a 8" head roughly for my custom bunny wigs).
I do love the eye mechanism on pullip! Hopefully I will find a doll head at around 8" and still work well with obi 27cm.
Enough of my rambling and dreams.
Thanks for any assistance.
