I think there's a Holly Hobbie soft doll panel in the fabric somewhere and I'm pretty sure I picked up some patterns at the estate sale I got Ballerina Barbie from. What I'd like to find a replica of is the HH birthday party fabric. I have a couple of patches in my quilt but they're very thin and stiff. If it came in doll size I'd make stuff for the Chibi Unoa out of it.
When I get the time making a fake panel doll on a flour sack is one of the projects I have in mind. I experimented a bit at the last place and learned what doesn't exactly work.

They're selling those doll panels for a pretty penny on Etsy. I used to have a Strawberry Shortcake one as a teen, but it got lost in the move to the city. I just hope my little sisters got to enjoy it for awhile.
Trying to get pictures on fabric can be really tricky. Did you ever try to use the printer?

Years ago I used a printer and print on fabric that you set with an iron but I didn't make anything of it. One supposes if you took the print on fabric sheets to a print shop they could help you out. The only thing is the print on fabric can be stiff.
I've also played with Derwent Inktense on print on fabric and plain cotton. You need to know what you're doing with it tho because it dries fast and once it sets it's not going anywhere. I have plans to DIY a flour sack doll panel but I'm still working out the design.

There's a way to iron stuff onto normal fabric, use it in the printer, and then peel the stuff off. My Froggy Stuff on YouTube has shared the instructions.

I know, we've had hit or mis experience with DIY iron ons over the years, for me printing or painting on to the fabric works best. Screen printing supplies are easy to get too.
But honestly, some of the iron ons my sister printed out literally stank up her whole dresser with an unpleasant smell while others didn't survive their first wash. She did them at the turn of the century so I don't know if the technology has changed.

This wasn't even a special iron on. I just can't recall if it was waxed paper or what.

It would most likely be a special iron on transfer paper that would have a baking/cover paper that looks like waxed paper. So the kids on the lawn know, I wouldn't recommend ironing wax paper, use cooking parchment paper. Half the key to any of it is having an inkjet printer. You can also print on to shrinky dink paper.
To give everyone extra hope the shirt I painted a good 30 years ago with Tulip shirt paint is still working and glowing in the dark.

I might have gone out of my mind and bought a dollhouse size BJD to go in my "magic room" diorama I still need to put together.
Further proof of this is that I intend to gown her in Edwardian style.
All you damn kids get offa my lawn!
