Makies are now part of Disney

General discussions about dolls, new releases, doll reviews...you know, stuff that doesn't really fit in all the other categories but is strictly about dolls.

Makies are now part of Disney

Postby Eseme » Sun Mar 04, 2018 10:56 pm

I remembered how neat the 3D printed dolls were, and googled Makies Doll to see if anything had changed (in terms of the dolls coming back, being for sale).

And I found this:

Bought by Disney. However, no dolls for sale, or any work on when they will be back.

Sadly it's been over a year, so I'm not convinced Makies will live again :(

I have to wonder if the Makie technology isn't what they are using in the "Make an Avatar of yourself" setup at Disney World.

That is so cool! I'd jump at the chance to make a Star Wars avi of myself! hehe

Then again, I'd jump at the chance to make myself into a Hearld, too. :D

I think VictoriaVictrix has it! I wonder if they will expand the use of this tech.

Now I want to go to Disney and make a doll, in all the body types!

Our family is going to Disney World in October, wonder if it will be somewhere in one of the parks, or even downtown Disney. Willing to look if someone can update this with any new information.

I think the Doll Line itself is a dead issue. Disney just wanted the technology. Though making an Avatar of yourself IS a cool idea.

My mother and I went to Disney World a lot, and after she passed away, I have not had the desire to go (afraid if I do any of the things Mom and I did, I will just start crying.

Maybe one day, I will get over that and be able to visit and get an Avatar of myself. :-)

@animemom - it is part of the Avatar world in Animal Kingdom, see the link I posted above.
