Hello from an unusual member.... :-)

...Well I say unusual member because I am male which I would imagine is not the norm on a forum dedicated to Dolliehs ;)

What can I tell you about myself....

My name is Christopher, I am a few years older than the point at which life is said to begin, I am married, I live in England and I have lots of dolliehs of different types and sizes.

When I say dolleihs I have a real mix which started of with my reacquaintance to an old friend (Vintage) Action Man a few years back after his absence from my life since the early 1980s. This interest expanded into a mild obsession which also took in vintage and reproduction Action Man, GIJoe and more modern 1/6th scale figures such as those produced by Dragon Models.
I enjoyed the refurbishment of the older figures and whilst fiddly washing and fixing old clothes is very satisfying. I have completed quite a few figures but there are still lots awaiting my attention.... and I do mean lots... the number stored in boxes is definitely into treble figures :o

I then looked at some female companionship for my guys and bought at the likes of CY Girls, BBi Perfect Bodies and the various ladies produced by Triad toys and this collection grew and then shrank back down to just two :(

A desire to actually make something 'normal' to fit the female figures rather than buying clothing of questionable taste made me look at slightly larger figures and I bought a 'Gene' (since sold) and several 16" Tonners of which two remain.
At this point my good lady took an interest in the figures and hi-jacked my Tonners and added a few more 16" size along with a Marley Wentworth and a selection of 10" Tiny Kitties as a start to her modest collection.

Following recent discussion and my desire to create something completely different to what is usual (for me) and to unwind after a busy day I now have my two Tonner ladies back in my possession with a view to making some outfits..... however I was really looking for something larger to make the task of sewing more realistic given my limited skills in this area so I treated myself to a Evangeline Ghastly 18.5" figure just before New Year.
Whilst Evangeline is fantastic she is a little on the thin side and 18.5" still didn't seem quite large enough so following much research, which originally started back in 2009, I now have an SD sized BJD which whilst pre-loved is just over year old with a OOAK face-up and I must say that I am rather taken by her.

So as I now have a dolleih large enough to make things for I dug out and fixed the sewing machine which I saved from being thrown out by my Mother and I'm reading books on sewing borrowed from the local librabry... a million miles from the day job but that is the intention...

So now you know a little about me I hope that there is a place within this Sanctuary for an unusual member with a varied collection and taste in miniature folk of various types :)

Welcome to the board.

Its a trap. anytime you go buy a female companion for a male action figure, its a start of a doll trap whether said companion is a BBI Amazon or a petite Obitsu. Its a rather fun hobby whether you're doll or action figure inclined. My 1/3 bjds ended up mimicking my 1/6 dolls/action figures.

Welcome to the board! One of our most beloved members is a guy.
We love him because he gives us Madh Vinyl:

What girl do you have?
What type of wardrobe do you want for her?
A lot of us make doll clothes and someone may be able to direct you to some free or inexpensive patterns if we know what you are looking for.
Again, welcome and can't wait to see your girl and what you make. :D

Welcome from someone else in the UK :)

My other half (usually referred to as the yeti) also collects dolls - it's a very small collection so far (two Makies, a Hujoo Freya, and a ball jointed pug), not least because he can't decide what to get next!

Many thanks for the Welcome and replies :D

She is a Doll Leaves 'Doris' SD 58cm high.
No pics of my own yet but the previous owner took some fantastic ones.
richila wrote:What type of wardrobe do you want for her?

Strangely just regular stuff like skirts and dresses of various types then a selection of tops to give different and seasonal looks.
I'd also like her to have leggings and fluffy jumpers for nights in although I'll probably buy these two items unless I learn to knit

I'm gradually working my way through the various areas on the forum and I am really enjoying seeing what other people can make especially the ingenious recyling and repurposing of full size clothes.

Socks work great to make doll leggings and jumpers. There is probably a pattern or tutorial on the board.
