Hi.

Tell the world who you are!

Hi.

Postby DawnSilver » Fri Apr 26, 2013 1:53 pm

I joined this group because I recently gave in to my fascination with 1:6 scale Obitsus, and bought one. She arrived today.

My doll collection is primarily made up of 1:6 scale dolls and action figures. I started out buying Fashion Royalty dolls and Dynamite Girls. My intention was to do a photo story with them, but I soon switched to 1:6 action figures for better posing.

I also have a few Tonner 16" girls, Ellowynes, and one Evangeline Ghastly.

I enjoy making furniture, building sets, sewing, and crocheting for my dolls.

My interest in dolls began, soon after I retired, when I saw all the OOAK re-paints on line. My response was "I want to do that!" So I went to the thrift store and loaded up with old Barbies. I bought all the supplies, and I was ready to go, when my mother had a stroke, and I became her primary caregiver. Things have settled down some, and I would like to try again. So I have pulled out those old Barbies, and I am going to practice on them before painting my new little girl.

This seems like a good place to learn, and I see a few names I know from another board.

I already have a question, so I am off to the 1:6 area.

Happy to be here, Dawn

Hi and welcome. Lol, I am going in the opposite direction than you. I started out with Obitsu and Volks and now I am into FR dolls.

Hi, and welcome, Dawn. Sounds like we have some similarities in situation. I don't have power of attorney or anything over my mother (otherwise referred to as the Evil Overlord), but I've been stuck as household help and the person who gets yelled at whenever she's stuck or needs something that weighs more than 5lbs moved since not long after a car accident she had more than a decade ago. (We were raised more as sisters than with a parent-child relationship, so we don't really get along... which makes things 'fun' here. For that definition of fun that includes masochism.)

Please note that I also have a very cynical sense of humor at times, in case none of that reads as funny... which it probably doesn't.

Anyhow, I also got into dolls to make some OOAK 'cast members' for photostory 'theater'. And am also practicing and getting started using a pile of older barbies, with obitsu bodies planned for in the future. I'll be watching to see what you come up with. :)
