Falling down the rabbit hole

Now that I've been registered and skulking around the forums for a week looking at things, (which is the same stuff I could've done unregistered.) I figure I should get around to this introduction thing.
I'm known as oniakki almost everywhere, but this is the first dollieh (for some reason this spelling just makes me smile) forum I've joined. I've always been interested in dolls, but never found any that called out to me until a few years ago when I saw a BJD at an anime convention. Afterward, looking into it the prices floored me, and put me off for a while. When I finally realized that my other hobbies were just as expensive (perhaps more-so) and, like all hobbies, one starts small, I ended up picking up a doll from Junkyspot.
I now have an Obitsu 50 White skin who arrived almost 2 weeks ago now. Her right shoulder has a broken socket, but Emory was quick to provide support and has ordered a replacement... spine/torso/skeletal bit, which will hopefully arrive soon, I think it had to be ordered from Japan so has some traveling to do.
As so far, I've been having trouble getting clothing that fits, so I've started the process of learning to sew doll clothing and have worked out some of the basics (I have a pair of slightly tight sweat pants and a simple linen dress made already, yay). Incidentally while browsing other sites for clothing that might possibly fit an Obitsu50 type, I saw a vmf50 AMI type (achromatic color) and now have her on the way to join us.
I actually found this forum through MADh Vinyl (which from the one forum description is apparently a relatively common occurrence) and would like to thank K2! for the many comparison images posted in various places across the web that helped me choose a dollieh.
Oh, my other hobbies include Anime (probably obvious given where I learned of BJDs), miniature wargaming (25-35mm scale, scifi & steampunk), Lego (of the Technic and Mindstorms variety), and PC video gaming (strategy and sims).
