EDIT: So this started out as a thread for the troll doll grub I made for a friend. But I think I'm going to simply have this thread become the place where I post all the images and creation stages/stories for all the doll related projects I have going on It will be me craft zone I guess? Something like that. So what I will do is post everything I'm doing here in this forum I'll figure out how to set it up soon enough, but for Now, have these freaky monster legs to look at, it is my first try at digitigrade legs of any sort.

~~~~~~~~~~~~TROLL GRUB~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been a while, I hope I still know how to post pictures properly. Latest project. You probably know by now it's homestuck. Buddy of mine is really into it, she commissioned me to make her a grub doll of her fan troll. If you want to know about the actual troll you could asked her on her deviantart account which you can ask me for if you are really interested enough.
ABOUT THE DOLL: It will have a clay head, bug legs and a chubby baby neck. It will have a soft but weighted grubbie body too. Of course it's face is modeled after human newborns because I am guessing that a grub is the infant part of the troll life cycle. Tell me what you think?
~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE #1~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here are some more pictures. I made him eyes and I edited the images in gimp to give you an idea of what it will look like when it's done. Its basically the plan I drew on paper with the sculpted head sitting in place on it. I also gave him the hair digitally in gimp to figure out how I wanted to do it. The would be trolls name is Orkkid Silven.

~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE #3~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Very flexible with six moving round “joints” which have also been treated with suede glued to the interior of each section to reduce kick and increase hold when posed properly. This joint construction though will not be visible in the finished product as he will be enveloped from the neck down in a carefully sewn and stylized “sleeve” of cloth and stuffing to make up his soft plushy grub body. See drawn/computer edited example shown above.
What you see right now is intended to give the body three key features, some pose ability, weight, and to hold his head in place and keep it from becoming too floppy and unstable. *cough* And it makes my life less complicated. I considered a thinner inner sleeve of sand but that would eighty six any chance of being posable really, then I consisted lots of stuffing with a wire coat hanger jammed through it, leaving tough rigid poses that I would hate and no real weight to counter act that bulbous head but lord no. This though was the obvious and best choice, a perfect mix of all worlds and it almost looks good by itself.
On the head I did a kinda half awake face up on him, darkened his lips and gave them a glossy finish and because my hands were for some reason covered in yellow/orange paint he kinda has a but of a blushing just from indiscriminate handling. Wow I'm an idiot but at least it looks good on him, probably can't see it it pictures but it's there.
Quite photogenic for a creature with no limbs huh?
And here we are with a comparison to a box of Super Sculpey. By the way I got lazy and thats why most of the images have no signature on them.
Now I just need to do the sewing and wig making. The parts that take the longest and hurt my hands the most. Haha.
That is sort of amazing. The horns look like polymer clay? and the rest is some sort of air dry?
It is all made from flesh colored super sculpey, I just added pigment to it to make the skin grey and the horns candy corn color. So it all went through the oven at some point. I’m not really big on air dry clay, most brands of it just don’t feel right in my hands.
Thanks, I actually though had to put a napkin over it the night after I sculpted it because it gave me the creeps.
Thanks Absynthe. Grubbie boy went to his forever home last month with the friend he was made for. I think He is happy there in San Diego.
