Frankie! That's NOT how you do a headstand!!!

If he'd just been able to stand, Frankie would have been a really awesome little doll. His range of mobility is insane... and he's so much more flexible than my darling little Allison. Unfortunately, that flexibility and range of motion was his downfall. In order to make Allison's body stable, I had to greatly reduce the range of motion; even so, he can be a little finicky.

Just because it's cute, here's a shot of Allison and Frankie. It was posted in another thread, but I still think it bears (is this the right word here?) reposting. ^.~

*sprays zirc with water bottle* No! Bad Zirc!!! No malfunctioning dollieh!!! XD

Shinku: Technically, he is. Consider Frankie to the be original prototype for Allison. The main issue I have with him is that he can't stand.... which is why I'm not allowing him to be cast. He has enough problems that it's a quality issue, I don't want something so faulty to be associated with my name or Sweet Dolls. ^.~

At some point, when I'm a little less busy, and have the supplies for his molds, I might fix him and start bringing him out in small batches. But as is? No way.

Would making his feet heavier or putting magnets in them help him stand? The head looks good.

Otherwise that is some great inspiration for doll making, that's a different way to do the chest.

I also really really want a Frankie, ability to stand totally does not matter with something that cute. For the record I'm not really asking, and I totally don't expect you to make him available. Just letting you know how awesome he is even with his "faults". Out of curiosity, did you try wiring him? I mean, I know Allison can do all those crazy things without being sueded or wired, but alot of us are more than used to needing to...enhance a dolls ability to pose.

You know if you make him, we'll be lining up to get a Frankie. He's such a sweety. But I know how you feel about quality control. 'Good enough' isn't in your vocabulary. ^__~

The problem with getting Frankie to stand isn't an issue with his feet. Those are fine.... and actually, there isn't *any* differences (aside from size) between Frankie's feet, and Allison's feet. Okay, I did flatten out the bottoms on Allison's to give him slightly more stability.

The issues for standing are in the knees, hips, waist and his stringing. There's nothing to hold the top half of his body up, so that flops around loosely (allison has at least four different locks in his hip piece alone). His waist, ribs and chest all turn independently of each other, and on occasion decide to randomly settle backwards (allison has parts added to make sure this is impossible). There are no locks in the knees to keep the legs from buckling. Allison went through 3-4 different knee joint sculpts (all molded and cast) before getting one that allowed the proper balance between mobility and stability.

Because I was insanely ambitious, Frankie's got three different sets of stringing in him; wrist to wrist, ankle-hip-ankle, and head-torso-hip. Even if he were wired, a lot of his fundamental flaws will shine through.

So yar, for this one to come out... he'll get a complete overhaul of his jointing. -_-;;;

There's no problems with the head. The only difference between Frankie's head and Allison's, is size, how it's attached and some finalized post production work. Ultimately, Frankie is a 1:6 scale Allison. ^.~

Thanks for all the positive feedback on him! Keeping Frankie under wraps and OFF my doll shelf for the past two years was really hard. XD

He's still adorable, and he's special in his own way.
