My customs WIP - Obitsu faceup attempts

I hope this is the right forum to post this; I may end up adding updates to this thread later. I recently purchased several 1/6 Obitsu bodies and some heads to customize. I've been playing with the idea of doing a custom loosely based on Asuka from Evangelion TV, less anime more "real." I currently have a set of Liv dolls cosplaying as Eva characters of which I'll post pics once I'm able to take good pictures of them. These photos are impromptu, so the quality is terrible (I need to invest in a good camera) but I really wanted to share what I've done so far.

My first attempt at doing any sort of actual faceup, let alone on an Obitsu. I'm specifically focused on the eyes, which are meant to resemble Ms. Miyamura, her seiyuu for the entire series. It is a W-01 Auburn fleshtone head on a 25cm body which. I used watercolor pencils (Prismacolor), suggested by a how-to I read a while ago, but it is not sealed. I'll need to paint in the whites of the eyes, and other details for a finished look.

She's in the yellow summer dress with slip that came with Pullip Asuka Langley doll (incidentally, the plugsuit also fits the 25cm Obitsu, but all of the footwear is too small for the Obitsu feet) and a pair of Barbie Basic optional shoes/sneakers. I'll pick up some more character appropriate shoes later.

In case anyone was wondering, the new Stardoll heads (with such small neck holes) and clothing fit onto the Obitsu 27cm 2-part medium bust bodies, though you'll have difficulty getting a color match. I have the pale Fallen Angel on a fleshtone body, which looks better than on a pale body because the Fallen Angel has a slight tint of tan that is less obvious on the fleshtone. The shoes are loose, but they are shaped and angled in a way that it's really the floppiness of the shoe heel that determines if she has trouble standing. I imagine they should fit the other Obitsu 27cm dolls as well.

Good job.
She looks pretty in yellow with her auburn hair.
Can't wait to see more of your work.

Still no new camera for proper pics of my Obitsu 25cm to share. I tried using paint on her face-up, but wasn't happy with the look. It'll take some practice, so till I improve I'm sticking with watercolor pencils. This means no water goes near her face. I'm not using a sealant so the colors do become somewhat permanent unless I decide to do a proper oxy and sun bath to clean her off proper for a new face.

Today, I'm posting some pics of a custom I've been waiting on. Her new body arrived earlier this week.

She has an Obitsu W-03 white head with mahogany rooted hair with customized face-up I did using watercolor pencils on a Triad Toys small bust Asian Alpha body. The Obitsu heads have enough neck space to fit over the relatively large necks on the Alphas. The vinyl is soft enough for the neck hole to squeeze onto the neck peg. I had pre-ordered this body for this head because Triad (smaller company specializing in 1/6 customizable action figure collecting) only had Alphas in one skin tone, but the newest batch come in four. The color match is great in person! I was originally going to customize this into Scarlett from the last GI Joe movie, but will likely go in a different direction.

Btw, she's wearing a top from an early Spin Master Liv Doll Katie fashion pack (a work out set, if I remember correctly, a 2010 release which originally included blue workout pants with white stripes on the side), khaki pants from a Mattel Ken fashion pack (circa 2010?, came with a really tacky looking powder blue knit sweater with a white Charlie Brown zigzag on the front), and bootfeet from Triad Toys red Harley Chic 3.0 set(2009 release). 1/6 female action figure usually have removable feet with a ball-socket connection. Bootfeet are pre-shaped with a ball peg inside each boot ready to pop into the figure's ankle sockets.
