Mermaids and Spell books

I'm working on an Ooak Barbie Mermaid. Her face-up still needs work, and will likely be whipped to start over. She's too sweet and I want more allure. The tulle on the tail isn't quite right. I think a dark pink or something will work better than the purple. It looks black with indoor lighting with the purple tulle, but the velvet is actually a dark green as you can see.

There will be lots of details to her tail with beads, findings, and even fresh water pearls. Also she will have a head piece and a different top. I am still deciding what sort of top.

I'm also working on a set of three spell book/journal type things. Here are the starts of them. The covers are supposed to look like leather. I'm not sure they do.

I think the book covers look really cool as they are. But if you're set on leather-look, I've seen an interesting way to make fake leather and vinyl that's thin enough to not look out of scale for doll items over here:

It involves scrap silk and a lot of paint.

Thank you. Actually I like the way they look now myself. The red, green, and blue are paper printed to look like leather.

I really like how they look too. I've been planning to do up some mini books myself for a while, though in my case I want to make them as 'covers' for plastic SD card cases so I can organize my media on SD cards onto a doll-sized bookshelf.

What did you use to do the celtic pattern? Is it part of the printing or from a stamp?

It's part of the the printing.
