Has anyone ever heard of this? I have mixed feelings for this one. Mainly because I see them collecting their babies as we do to our dolls. So our love for our dolls are the same for them to their babies. So I can't say it's creepy, but...

For some reason those babies are closer to uncanny valley than resin dolls are. To me anyway. But perhaps that's a bit hypocritical.. I don't know..

I don't find them particularly creepy ... but I can't see the appeal, either. You can re-style a BJD, make up their characters, take pics ... in a resin kind of way they develop. Those babies never will. You're basically stuck with a "new-born" forever ... I can't see the appeal in that. And even though I'm a grown-@$$ woman who plays with dolls, I can't help but feel there must be something wrong with people who choose that kind of "time-stop, eternal dependence" play setting. I know some people enjoy being around babies, but the joy of kids is seeing them grow and develop and learn and get more and more independent ... those silicone babies might have the shape of a child, but they lack everything else that defines children.

I first read the title as "Silicone BARBIES". LOL! I find many of the baby dolls made for grown-up collectors to be creepy.

I don't have or want children but I painted one full size baby, and a smaller set a dog ruined, for the sake of making one but I didn't root it. Had it not come out looking pretty realistic I would have made it a zombie for the sake of "finishing" it. It has two outfits, one because I liked the fabric, and it just lays there and does nothing. I don't feel like babying it but my mom has expressed the occasional interest in wanting o carry it around like I carry a resin. The babies I like are the 5 inch Berenguers because they don't take up space. I could paint them realistically if I want but their factory job is good.
Maybe this is a way for these women to still play with dolls that are acceptable to their social circles. It's their over priced Cabbage Patch Volks status symbol. Maybe they like the attention other people give them. I have a baby ball joint but he has parents and it part of the only nuclear family in my dolls. I'm sick of cleaning up after puppies I wouldn't want to have to clean up after people.

I am not a fan of children. Babies make my skin crawl. If there's any way that I can avoid interacting with them, I do it. Needless to say any dolls resembling either creep me out something terrible, even bjds that aren't that realistic.
Now, I just want to say, I don't really see anything wrong with other people liking and wanting them. That's their business. I just am not going to look at their... realistic baby doll collection... ever.

I kinda like the teeny 4 inch ones, but I would stay far far away from the full sized ones..
on the other hand I have heard of them going for 800 bucks!

Omg...my stomage did a salto when the doll was picked up because she didn't pick it up like you would pick up a baby and its head and arms fell backwards... and its just so realistic...I automatically thought OH NO!!! Watch the head!! Gah..
The only appeal I can see is making clothes for it.. but then again I would make my dog clothes if it would wear them so.. XD
But I don't think I would get over the fact that it looks so freakischly real.. Its like a dead baby...
