What can we do to make this the best dollie forum ever?!!!

The place for those OT discussions that you just HAVE to share in a doll themed forum.

What can we do to make this the best dollie forum ever?!!!

Postby stinesculpture » Wed Apr 11, 2012 9:51 pm

Hi everyone, very new here, but already I really like it. I was wondering, and I am definitely willing to do my part, any suggestions on really making this forum take off and be a place where everyone wants to come with their dolls. I think that seems to be the original mission statement of this forum, and Id like to help spread the word. I have already started to do that in a few places and will continue to advertise, any other suggestions?

Liz, would you perhaps like to do a tutorial or a discussion on mold making with people?

Or, would you be willing to post links to some of your favorite sculpting tutorials? ♥

Yes, that sounds very intriguing. You also made me think of something else. It would be really nice to have a specific area for artists to come and gather and share their work and contribute their artistic ideas to help the community and each other. I dont think there really is another good forum that offers that? What does anyone else think?

Liz, there is the "Toolshed" here and there is "Custom Creations". I am thinking that if an artist took one threa in Custom Creations and just "stuck with it" that one could see the progression in the creation.

Any of your videos and tips and tricks could go down in the Toolshed. You would just have to dig around and figure out what you would like to post where.

You also could start showing parts of the body that we are working on. ... well, if you felt like it.

Yes, as I said, Im a newbie, I just started looking around today and did see those areas, they look like a place I would love to post some things in. In progress shots might be pretty cool actually. Sounds good, thanks.

Actually, if you are talking about an artist section showing off a doll you are making, there is already a section for that. Several of us have already shown off our work there. I've shared silicone molding tips from my husband, who has been making resin casts since the 90's. He used to do Anime Garage kits that he sculpted. You should post your stuff in Custom Creations! I really like your portfolio, and I think it would be great to see what you are working on!

If you really want to keep this the best dollieh forum ever, participate! Get to know people and there dolls. Show off your own dolls in photostories and pictures. I actually think it already is the best dollieh forum out there, and it has MADh Vinyl! I think you will be a great addition to it!

I don't want it to "take off." What do you mean by take off? I've been here for... (a year now? How long has it been guys?) I don't want it to be a place where EVERYONE comes. It would end up too big and too crazy to keep up with. I like the smaller size of the community. Not too small, not too big, it's just right. The people who are here are awesome. New members are awesome. But "take off" sounds like you don't think it's taken off enough as it is. I suppose I find a bit of offense to that coming from a new person.

And besides, It's Greyhaunt's forum. Why don't you leave those decisions to her. If you're new here, then just show up and enjoy it for what it is. Make it a good forum by being a good member. That's what makes it good, the fact that we're not jerks to each other. Jerks are kicked out. (and guys who post their love doll pics) hahaha

I don't really see the need in going on some "take the world by storm" advertising campaign. If you want to participate in artsy stuff, there are places for that.

I really have to disagree with you. I think the more people the better - the more dolls the better. Isn't that what a forum is for? I would be pretty turned-off by a forum with an elitist attitude with only some exclusive members. (Den of Angels redux anyone?)

It's not to say I don't respect your opinion on the matter - I just think it's nice to want to promote gaining new members and forum activity. When this forum in it's previous life was Dollfie Dreamland, it was linked to the Junkyspot forum which has an insane amount of new members nearly constantly. There was never any problems with it before and so far I haven't seen any elitism here, I think it's nice to keep it that way.

Shouldn't we be flattered that someone that is new likes the forum so much that they would like to find out more ways to promote it? I think that means we are doing a good job here!
