What's your Name?

A looooooooooooooong time ago this question was asked over on Junkyspot, and I enjoyed a lot of the answers, so now I'm asking it here - what is the story behind your username (if there is one)?

I'll start out with mine (embarassing as it is). A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away I was a massive Elfquest geek. I was so much of a geek I formed a small fan group with some friends and we all had our elf names and of course, our elves all had animal friends with names. Greyhaunt was the name of my elf's snow leopard companion. Ironically enough I haven't got a clue what the heck my elf name was anymore - I mean seriously, I don't remember. But Greyhaunt stuck with me and it was one of my first online names and has been the one to stick with me the longest :) Since I'm starting to get grey hairs I suppose its appropriate!

Haha! I have a grey-haunt! She's a tabby...and she likes to steal beds. People-beds...dog-beds...doll-beds...anything soft...
I saw this post and thought "Oh cool! Secret meanings!" but then I realized...I really have no clue! XD It's the Japanese pronunciation of "cross", which is the name of a character in a manga I'm fond of...but that isn't really very special. ;)

I spent 20+ years in the SCA as Valeria Richila Navarro. There are a lot of Valeries and Valerias on the internet. Richila was always available as a user name and I can't forget it.

Mine is (sadly) the names of the first 3 world of warcraft characters names shortened to their nicknames. I used to use the name Nightchii before that because I loved Dark Chii but oddly enough if employers can't even make sense of your name it's a lot better then getting "Night .... Cheee?" So since I was used to being called Almy from wow anyway, it just kind of stuck, and I'm now AlmySidaKay everywhere. (oddly enough all 3 characters don't have their names as is in my SN anymore since I went to an all Eesmee name scheme for any online games and renamed all 3).

There's no real meaning behind that name, really. I was in a phase where I came up with random names by playing with syllables. That's why a lot of my old doll characters had weird names that were borderline unpronounceable. I never had any intention of bonding with the name "Resu." It was just like any other screen name: disposable. I cycle through them just as quickly as I cycle through the characters I make up.

That was until I organized a doll meet for the first time almost two years ago. I ended up getting along with the local doll people and I became known as "Resu" to them. After that, it became clear that I would never be able to separate myself from "Resu." Well... within the doll community, that is. XD

Kim if I was a boy Kim if I was a girl, and sticking Dolly on the front seemed like a good idea for a doll board ID.

Back in the last century, when I signed up for free email on Hotmail, the name mermaid was already taken. I really didn't want to be mermaid number XXX so I added my birthstone on the front. Hence zirconmermaid. I really love zircons, and so I keep this as my online alias. It's actually my first nickname that wasn't a version of my real name! I was so happy when BBB/RS came out with Lu and I could get her in a lovely zircon color!! :D

Evelien is my real first name, derived from Eve who according to a book I don't believe in was the mother of the living. I like the meaning though.

Sosha, the name I gave to my first big Obitsu, also was a blood elf mage back when I played WOW -_-
Sasha was taken so I tried it with an o and I actually started liking that name better anyway :P
