Everyone Safe?

We got more snow this time than 2 weeks ago, but this storm has hit a LOT of areas hard. How is everyone doing?

It missed us where I live, but we got the crippling cold weather. The rivers are trying to freeze over. Do you know how cold it has to be for hot long for running water to freeze?

It's freezing here in NE Florida and for the first time in 36 years, it SNOWED!!! Last time it snowed around here was 1989!!

We had rain, snow and freezing temperatures all night so when we woke up this morning, the actual snow was mostly gone (the rain 'ate' it!) but lots of icy patches and some snow still on the roofs and tree blankets!

I am sitting here typing with mitten gloves and a knit snowcap on INDOORS! (But that's mostly my fault because if we turn on the central heating, I can't breathe, get headaches and sinus problems and post-nasal drip). So we avoid the central heat if we can and just use ceramic heaters here and there, and heated blankets at night!!
What my poor family has to put up with due to me! ^^;;

Brrrr!! It's COLD!!!

I sympathize with the heater thing. My sinuses are so irritated everything things I'm sick with the sneezing and sniffling. Nope, just sinus irritation.

I'm used to central heat, but it's so dry here that my sinuses are not happy, for sure. Our backyard is still full of snow, but it's melted from the roads and (more importantly) our driveway. It's supposed to be 11° tonight - and that's not with the wind chill factor.

I have about half a foot of snow. Nothing the plows can't handle, yet.

It hasn't snowed since we last got it, but it's still extremely cold over here. No ice on the roads, thankfully.

On the keeping warm side of life have a full length zip up robe or housecoat and slipper boots that at least cover your ankles. If you knit or crochet make a poncho where the sides stop at your elbows but the front and back cover your body. If you can't close a door to keep the space warm hang a curtain or sheet in the doorway.

My end of things is windy. I'm in So Cal but not near the coast or in LA county.

And on this end of the country, it's rain and ice and we've lost most of our snow here in Central Alaska. Windy and warm today and tomorrow. I've gone thru a bag and half of grit so we can get to the cars safely. The DH has fallen once on the ice in the driveway already and with his bad knees, that was something we didn't need. (He has one knee replacement and is getting the other done in a couple weeks.) I'm sorry for all the folks who are dealing with weather conditions that are so out of the norm. I wish we could have our usual snow and cold back! Wishing you all well!
