Type of Coat/Jacket Name?

In that clip, at 8 seconds into it, you'll see a man on the left in a taupe/tan jacket. Does anyone know what that type of coat/jacket is called? My dad has been wanting one for years but I never can find it because I don't know what to search or call it. ^^;;

Most likely, our British members might know? (We usually see them in English mysteries.) The coats seem vintage style from the 1920s-1940s, but that's all I know. I keep trying 'pea jacket' or 'pea coat' but nothing really comes up like that with all the straps and belts. I've tried 'English coat' or 'Vintage English gentleman's coat jacket' but still no luck.

I'm so sorry to ask this here but all the DS members are so informative, I thought I'd give it a shot!!!!!

:hugs to all:

Thanks again! God bless!!!!!

It kind of reminds me of a gamekeeper uniform coat. I defer to our members across the pond on that, though. Or Misty. :D

Try looking for a Norfolk jacket.

That is definitely a Norfolk Jacket. It's available in several variations including ones with leather patches on the shoulders for shooting (with shotguns, primarily).

Free pattern if you plan to make one, it's a great source for authentic Victorian gentlemen's coats. The book is 'Coats and How to Try Them On' and should be free anywhere with public domain books. Click the gear in the upper right for download options.

Since you spend a lot of time on ebay, you should have some luck finding a genuine Edwardian-WWII vintage example in your dad's size. They are almost always made of very sturdy wool and can last for generations. They can also be made of corduroy if he is allergic to wool.
