30 day countdown

So, three months ago I received a notice that my lease is up for renewal. 2 months ago I went to the office and said "yes, I wish to renew." 1 month ago I said "Could I have my new lease please?" Two weeks ago I mentioned once more "Is my new lease done please?" Each time I was told "sorry, I'm a bit behind I'll have it soon." Today I was told I have 30 days to vacate my apartment as they are going to be renovating my building. The residents of 20 apartments have, with essentially no warning, been rendered homeless at the end of February.

And the manger wondered why I was shouting at her on the phone earlier today when I called to find out about my lease and they finally decided to tell me.

I may, just MAY be able to transfer to another apartment in the complex - if not I have to pack, find a new place, come up with pet and security deposit money, and move all in 30 days.

Assholes.

WT actual F? That's… insane. I hope you can get another apartment in the complex (and if you do, can you get it in writing that they'll give you more than a month's notice if they want you out?)

That really stinks.
At least it's not as bad as being awakened at 5:00 AM by a construction crew.

That's craziness!
I hope you can move in the complex only because deposits are expensive.

Fortunately, after meeting with the manager this morning, I was able to snag the ONLY available apartment in the same size as what I currently have. And even better, those tenants won't be out until March 13th, so I have some extra time.

Time to start packing up dollieh stuff.

Oh, thank heavens! I'm glad things worked out for you, hon, but DAMN...you'd think they could have at least told you something sooner. And all those other poor people...

I hate the corporate politics that get played out all the time. It's always the customer or the employee who gets the rug pulled out from under them. Don't be too hard on the manager - they may have been under orders and weren't allowed to talk about it to the renters. Still, it's a crappy thing to pull - and I'm really glad you were able to find a different apartment in the same complex.

Hey, maybe this will offer a really nice change of scenery, at least! :D

Wow, I am glad that worked out, but that was horrible treatment of you and all those other people.
