Why Google, WHY?

Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of my beloved blog, Jobee's Dollies & Stitches. After over a week of back and forth with Google, and 5 hours on hold to no avail, I have given up. I'm not getting my old email or my old blog back... It will remain where it is forever, never to be updated again.

Don't you guys think for a minute that I've given up on blogging. I've painstakingly copied over all my content to Jobee's Dollies & Stitches 2 And will be updating there from now on.

As much as I've rebuilt, this was still a very frustrating experience.

Wow, that's really terrible. Sorry you didn't get any customer service.

I wouldn't have learnt about your wonderful blog if not for this - so at least something good came of it. Google can be really frustrating to deal with but you did well and I'm so glad I found your blog your dolls are wonderful.

It wasn't deleted, but I can't get into that account ever again. So not only did I lose a bunch of old emails and files, I lost the ability to update and post in my blogs. You see, I added my phone number for additional security a long time ago. Then I recently changed my phone number. Then last week I cleaned out my cookies, so they asked for a security code from my phone. I tried the account recovery page many times to no avail, and getting hold of a human is impossible.

I looked up "How to get hold of a human at Google"

Number
650-253-0000
Then
Press 5, 3, then 0

Be prepared for a long wait

I was on the phone with this number for 5 hours, following those instructions. If I waited any longer, I'd have used up all my minutes for the month. Thank you for looking this up though.

This is why I really hate that "for extra security, please provide a phone number!" rule that more and more sites seem to be adopting... I know that there are some email sites that won't even let you create an email account unless you provide them with a number... and for some places, I think they only want a cellphone number to boot, so they can text you codes and such... which... well, I don't really have a cellphone, only temporarily if I need one. So it's pretty ridiculous...
