Crazy cat ladies

I once heard it said that doll collectors have a habit of being cat people. Box openings almost always seem to involve cats. Any crazy cat people here?

I thought I was keeping myself out of the crazy category. I have 3 cats, and that is it. No more, I say. I never feed strays. No more than 3: that is the maximum safe number to stay out of crazy territory in my opinion.

Then last week someone threw a 3 month old kitten into the dumpster where I work. Somehow I ended up being the one voted to take it home. The shelters are all full of cats in the area, so no dropping off. But still I said: no more than 3! I will find him a home!
So Facebook posts were made by myself and other co-workers, phone calls were made, posters put up in the vet's office.

But now, less than a week later, and I'm hoping no one wants to take him. He's freakin' adorable and friendly. He has stolen both my heart and my dolly monies. (it looks like no RS Gang this year :( )

So, I guess I'm officially a crazy cat lady now.

Any others out there? Whatever your personal definition of crazy is!

I have two cats! Both were from stray litters that needed homes, so I ended up adopting them. Rumpleteaser came first and she was my only cat for a few years, but then Serenity and her brothers were left at a vet's office and my friend took them home. She'd found homes for all of them, but the person who was supposed to take Serenity backed out, which I was very glad of since I'd bottle-fed her a few times and she was so sweet and cuddly and innocent. I'm the one who named her Serenity, in fact. So I got to take her home with me, where she promptly turned into a trouble-making little BRAT. Poor Teaser was probably on the verge of a nervous breakdown after the first week or so; on the other hand, she was probably glad it was someone ELSE who was now getting yelled at for things breaking and getting knocked over all the time. lol

It's ALWAYS the quiet ones... XD But she's still sweet and cuddly and will not let you alone if you don't pay attention to her. Teaser, on the other hand, is a total recluse. To everyone but me.

As for what makes a crazy cat lady? To me, that's someone who has more cats than she has space (or money) to properly keep them! Where every time you turn around you risk stepping on someone's tail or tripping over them or something. Anything over six is definitely getting up there in the "crazy" territory, unless you live on a farm and they're outdoor barn cats or something. lol

We have three in the house. My Aiko and Kirako, then adopted my mom's cat after she passed away, Kirara. But fortunately Kirara has adopted NekoSandy so when SHE eventually moves out into a place of her own, Kirara will go with her.

I am now allergic to my cats so they moved outside with garage access. It's sad but there will never be cats in my box openings again. /cry

okay, maybe I'm still safe then.

Do nekomimi count?

Hmmm....well they themselves are probably crazy cat ladies by a different definition! (are there boy nekomimi?)

Or if you can count yourself as a crazy cat person due to all of your nekomimi, then I'd say absolutely. No question on that. You are a crazy cat person who takes care of crazy cat people.

awwww....I can't imagine. One of my bigger worries is that one of my future children will be allergic and I'll have to make a sacrifice. Hopefully that will never happen, but it is in the family. My poor brother can't have long visits at my house because of it.

I'm more of a general animal person, (dogs, ferrets, horses etc etc).

But I do currently only have a cat :) And I'm fostering a pair of calico kitties we rescued about a month ago-they were abandoned at a camp ground we stayed at on vacation-the vet thinks they must be sisters and they're heartbreakingly sweet, (they followed us the entire time we camped there-slept outside out tent...the poor things would never have survived the winter). We're waiting until they get a clean bill of health and then finding them a home :)

Because...well...as much as I love them, we can't afford 3 cats lol

I have two - a 5 year old big huge grumpy tabby cat and a 7 month old irrepresible tabby kitten! Both were intentional this time, but in the past I've had cats dumped on me to rehome, etc...

I adopted Chezare three years ago after my beloved black cat Cyrano passed away at 16 yrs old. But over the past year, after my little dog also passed away, it became obvious that both myself and Chez needed someone else in our lives. He's not cuddly - and need a cuddly cat. So when my friends cat got pregnant (again) I said "If there is a fluffy, i'll take it" cause I wanted a long haired cat too.

Thus I am now also the mommy of Micheletto also a tabby, but much more of a cuddlebug than his big brother. I'd do three cats, but I want to keep room for a dog, and three animals is my max for now :) Occassionally I feed one of the complex strays, but not on a regular basis because where I live there are too many kids running around who might hurt the cats.
