I just finished a wee kimono for Hero, working on the obi. Trying to figure out how to do shoes!

I have seen shoes made with satin cording and the base carved from thick craft foam or foam core board.

These are satin cord and polymer clay.

The last batch of scented oils arrived in the mail today. OH man does my house smell good!! I'm so excited about my soap making adventures. I also checked the price for food grade silicone. It's just 30 bucks. Head Soap might just happen! :-p

I have been planning on doing a decent sized embroidery piece of a barn owl, but... but... soft dolls!

Hrmm... The Spike/William the Bloody project is progressing nicely - but I've hit a snag. It's far too cold for spray painting right now - and it really really needs a coat of matte before I start on the final assembly. Sigh... Especially awkward cos I really need to tidy this all up, but I just know that if storage happens I will lose some of the tiny parts!

I misread the first sentence as: "The last batch of scented dolls."

Scented dolls could be a thing. Ivan smells like success! :-p

Today was a Melt and Pour soap day. I had several successful batches from the four pounds of base soap I used. I tried a few different scents and colors and ended up with a few nice bars of soap.

We also played around with glycerin based soap. I don't like the way glycerin based soap works or feels. It has no lather and melts/dries too fast. I like the clear soap of course, it's pretty cool, but I think that it's working temperature is too hot. If you see in the picture the three clear bars with the yellow Batman bat in the middle, you'll see that it didn't work so well. The first one melted the Batman. Oops. The second and third I tried adding the bat later but I didn't find that sweet spot where I could get the bat in the soap without it melting versus being too stiff to even go in. We'll try that one again later.

Then, I thought I'd see what happened if I grated Dove. Ick. No. That stuff is horrible. I tossed it all out. Well, most of it. It's the grey crumbling collection of Han in carbonite. What a disaster.

Next week we're going to jump into Cold Process soap. We just have to get a few more supplies (I forgot a few things.) I'm so excited about CP. My friend and I will be working on it together and I told her we ought to get ourselves some Breaking Bad yellow suits while we're working with the lye.

After it's been molded does the soap melt again? And you can always use the oopsies for carving.

... Where did you get a mold for Companion Cube soaps? XD Those are adorable! (and my mind keeps wondering if they're anywhere close to 1/6 scale). I also especially like the cute bugs and rabbit-peeps. And the pac-man ghosts. And the legos....

Someday I should get some fancy molds. I've really just stuck to using a big silicone loaf mold, since my soap's just plain and to avoid actually having to buy soap full of chemicals. The closest I've done to anything fancy and scented is that I make pine-tar soap for washing my hair.
