Vetinari-san, wow! Those wings and that marquee are just incredible! I love how they are retractable! NICE WORK!!!!!!! :faints:
Just finished my Queen Elsa cosplay for Halloween a few days ago!! :whew:
It wasn't a super complex costume overall, but it has a LOT of tiny little 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm gemstones and sequins that I had to sew on or glue or hotfix EVERYWHERE in patterns!! Thank goodness my shoulder rotator cuff has started to improve in the past few weeks or I wouldn't have been able to finish all that little detailing with the 'jewels.'
Since Elsa has a widow's peak and no bangs/fringe, I had to get a lace front wig this year, so it looks more natural---like the peak and hair are coming out of my head realistically. I originally bought a regular type pro wig to use, but it looked really 'wig' and 'fake' even though it was high quality, so I decided to splurge and go for a lace front to get the natural look. I'm really happy I did, and with how the wig came out! It styled just right in sort of a messy layered look, and braided well, too. ^^ YAY! Usually, pale blonde wigs aren't a good match for me, since I naturally have dark brown hair, but in this case, (thank goodness!) it seems to work! I'm pleased with the outcome!!
The shoes are sculpted like 'ice' and I painted them with pearlescent paints and silver spray on glitter to get an 'icy' effect. I then hotglued the pieces onto clear heels for more of an ice feel to it.
I also want to take some additional photos showing the detail of the cape better (I went through 4-5 shipments of fabric/material/patterns before I was happy with the pattern and size that looked most like Elsa's in the film.) I wanted a super long train like she had when she transformed so I had to keep lengthening it in every direction and used 3 panels to get it to be about an 8.5 feet long train. It's going to be a hassle to walk in on Halloween, but I wanted as accurate as possible. I was super happy to find a mirror organza in cerulean blue that had silver sparkles embedded in it, so I used that for lining to make the cape have extra 'glimmer' and frostiness about it.
It's a little difficult to walk in because the skirt is so fitted and it's not stretch material. But this material was made for Elsa cosplay with the silver 'strands' running through it, so I had to use it. I love it and after wearing it for the photos, it's not so bad after all!
Hopefully on Halloween I'll get a chance to snap a few more pictures showing the cape and wig better. ^^ But for now, here's my costume. Hope you all like it!
