So I'm back after dissapearing off this board again Miss my dolly friends back home. Really want to join in the community here but it just seems really hard to do. Theres more than one group, they all seem to meet at each other's houses, and I know there's at least one person at these meets that doesn't like me and I don't know which group they are so D:

they'll just come back, and in some places its against the law to transport raccoons. you might have to permanatly dispose of them.

He offered to do that, too. He has kill traps but since we live in town, I'm afraid he might end up catching some pets that run loose. =(

I don't mind killing them, even though shooting them IS messy. Honestly, I just wish we had a yard that was fenced. If that was the case, we'd have a large dog trained to go after animals like that. Art had a Collie/Shepard mix years ago (before we met) and he and his mom NEVER had a wild animal problem. Sadly, where we rent in town (literally the main drag) has no fencing and I don't want to pay for that since we rent. And since we live in town, I can't shoot them. Trust me, Jeremy was more than willing to shoot them because he wants the pelts (and the meat - *ugh*).

After checking, IDNR has to do this AFTER I've tried everything else, like repellent, ect...It may not even be worth trying to get rid of them.

Unless you want a huge pile of raccoon poop in your attic, and have your wiring and insulation torn up and chewed on--and possibly have your place burn down in an electrical fire--get rid of them.

I second that motion, you should see what the one did to our garage before we trapped it and sent it to the big treehouse in the sky.

Raccoon's are strange creatures. There was a family living under the porch at my in-laws. The one essentially stalked my sister in law. If she was outside, he would lurk and watch her. They finally called in professionals when he took to knocking on her bedroom window at night. He would knock, then try to look in through the blinds, then repeat for a an hour or so at a time. It was the creepiest thing I have ever seen. I would see if you could get him to trap it, then take it somewhere he could kill it. That way you get rid of it, and he gets the pelt.

Something to ponder- Pop Goes The Wiggles has an American Sign Language option, a guy in the corner of the pic signs the nursery rhymes, and it's got me curious what deaf people think about something like Hickory Dickory Dock because the ASL guy does the same sign for all three words. Do deaf people get the concept of rhyming words? And the sign for skipping looks fun

so my mom is having a seriously hard time understanding I'm 27. I want to go to a one day convention in the next city over, about an hour's drive. it'll be the middle of the day on a saterday, and I'm not going to go wandering, but she doesn't want me to go by myself because its "dangerous for a female to be wandering around parts of that city."
I have no idea how to politely tell her I'm a grown up and I can take care of myself for one afternoon in a not that bad part of a small city.

Oh god I know exactly how you feel. I always just repeated basically that last sentence to her endlessly until I'd get fed up and send her my preferences for burial "just in case". At which point she would tell me I was over reacting. What pisses me off even more now is that I'll get asked what my husband thinks about it, and if he says it's okay, well then fine. At which point I'm like "grown ass woman here. don't need no man telling me what's okay for me to do. Seriously this is 2013." At which point I get patronized for my "feminist" ideas being great in principle but "this is just the way the world is sweet heart" and "your ideas won't stop someone from hurting you." I'm the first to tell people to be aware of their surrounding and to take care of themselves but seriously. I'm not going to be killed walking out my front door in broad daylight just because I have a frickin vagina. Sorry. /rant

what's weird is she's never really acted like this since I was in highschool. be careful, carry mace, but she's never really told me I can't go or do something without a guy before. even when I was living in much bigger cities.
but she's been weird since I got a driver's license.
