That's...that's kind of badass.

I once hocked a loogey out the car and didn't quite clear the car. It ate off the top layer of the car's paint. If I was a mutant superhero, I'd definitely be Acid Girl. LOL

Loving all of the praises being heaped upon him but every 5 minutes I find myself exclaiming "Bowie!" in anger as some one who claims to be a fan pronounces the Bow in his name, not in the "Bow-tie" sense but the "Bow-wow-wow" sense... I think my slight aspie tendencies are rather spoiling it for me!

lol I've always wondered how to pronounce his name. If the way I pronounce it (Bow-tie) is correct.

The reasoning is that when he had his name changed way back when, he chose "Bowie" after the bowie knife. But that bowie is pronounced with short O, as bow-wow-wow (or "take a bow", if you will). That's probably where the confusion stems from.

Personally, I think the long O Bowie sounds better.

I didn't know bowie knife was supposed to be pronounced that way; I've only ever heard it the other way. In general pronunciation is weird though, and varies by region. I have a friend who pronounce bagel as "bag"-ul when everyone else here pronounces it "bay"-gul. Of course on T.V., and I suppose on the radio too, it seems like something is always purposely mispronounced. Just the other day, I was watching some show and they pronounce ochre as "okra." Seriously, television guy, okra is a vegetable, not a type of natural pigment.

Don't some people say Boo-ee? I use the name in a story and they guy ponders the different pronunciations and usually tells people he's named after the knife. He's of Irish decent and blond and usually goes by Beau.

I think I've only heard Bow(wow)-ie come out of Julian Lennon in an interview about them using some of the same studio musicians.

Well I always took it to be how he pronounces his own name

I've always attempted to say names how the owner of said name wants you to. (What with the whole load of people who purposefully ignore the Germanic W/V in their names, not to mention irish names that are really not spelt how you'd expect them to be, like Owen/Eoin, Neeve/Niamh etc.)

Went to the store cause I needed some food. Nothing looked good, left the store with vanilla Coke, peanuts and chocolate bunnies.

What the hell, self? You had one job. I can't trust you with simple tasks anymore... @__@
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@
