I have this sort of vague notion to do some sort retro sci fi/ dieselpunk-themed project this coming year. I've spent a fair amount of time doing image searches and studying art from people like Kow Yokoyama, Range Murata and Shunya Yamashita, to name a few. I'm well stocked on historical references too but like I said, it's just a vague idea right now .

Honestly, the full-time daddy stuff doesn't leave a lot of "me time" for anything else.

It's much more "me" than say, Steampunk. I have been a big fan of both the American Craftsman and the Art Deco/ Moderne styles as long as I can remember. As a young gearhead, the cars of the 30s-40s were always among my most favorite and as a teen and young adult the history of the WW2 era was the time that fascinated me the most. Long before I'd ever heard the term dieselpunk, I imagined some kind of a retro-sci-fi setting that used high technology but had a definite second quarter 20th century aesthetic to it. I'm sure a few folks who've been around here for a while will remember that I'm not a fan of the term dieselpunk but that's what the genre is generally referred to so, "When In Rome...."

Beginning to gather supplies in preparation for my 1st major bit of modding on a bjd.

I'm currently trying to work out how much EL panel/wire/tape is too much... And indeed which colour to get - sickly green or Tron Blue? Hmm...

I'm also on the look out for various misc. metal objects/scraps/mechanical looking gubbins.

Found a suitable net for a pack of Gitanes - looks like Mr Bowie is definitely going to be The Thin White Duke, I wasn't sure for a whiile.

Now to work out how large to print it & what cardstock to use... ¬.¬

I hit the quilt store yesterday to buy fat quarters in holiday prints to make up some dresses for Ellowyne. I'm going to try to churn out 4 today, one for my latest El and the other three to send off to my sisters for their dolls. I'm going to use the pattern/style of the one on the right in this picture, Gracefairie's Lilac Afternoon dress.

Gonna give my Doctor Eight doll a make-over.

Beady green eyes aside I'm going to trim his hair down a bit and make him the older version of Paul McGann's doctor then figure a wig for my younger Paul to be the movie Doctor. Got to figure out the updated version of his costume too.

Younger most beautiful of all the Doctors Paul.

Turns out he just needed his eyes redone viewtopic.php?f=22&t=9362
