Pssh, tell her that and she'll still won't understand :\

Not like all the doll sized things you're making could totally lead to a career or anything either. If you go that route Ray Harryhausen started all the stuff Nightmare Before Christmas, Robot Chicken, and Coraline have continued. Or you could ask if it would be better to have a destructive hobby like smashing things.

My smother still doesn't completely agree with my dolls or how much I spend on them, you aren't up to the $200 for a "Barbie" mark yet. I found out the root generally lies in her having issues with managing money and liking to have something to complain about.

My brother even said, "then how come you don't complain with me collecting transformers?" And he's got no job and already he has more than 10 :\ And I think she replied with "Because you don't have to dress them up" But that's the point! If I have dolls, why wouldn't you dress them up,right? It's not like the fabrics I buy are expensive. And I usually buy fabrics when I've got a voucher or if it's on sale. If it's not, then just the cheaper ones.

My mom tried to get me to spend any money I get from selling a doll to a sewing machine but we came to a compromise...I make the money to buy the doll she gets me the sewing machine so I can accept commissions and churn my stuff out better. She says: "Well to me that's expensive back when I was a kid ten dollars for a Barbie was really expensive and my mom didn't understand that there was different kinds." She hated the hobby at first too, would always say "I'm worried about you, your fourteen and still playing with dolls." when I was showing her an item I made. I wound up doing my hardest to show her that this was a hobby I enjoyed and it was here to stay.

Going on three years and she's been sucked partially into it. Give your mom time she may come around.

Dog stay in the yard, dog shut up, dog stay in the yard, dog stop wiping your mouth on my fleece pants instead of your fleece blanket, dog shut up, dog stay in the yard, dog stop trying to grab everything in my hand, dog don't eat your poop, don't wipe your mouth on me. Dog stay in the house, don't scratch the door and scream to get out.

Dog just leave, follow the people who left the house, don't come back, I'm done trying to get a moment of discipline out of you when no one else helps.

I was reading the newspaper from my hometown. Found out a friend of mine from college died. He was 48. I wasn't expecting anything like that.

What's happening in my life is potentially a good, albeit stressful, event. I am going to this theatre conference called URTAs in Chicago where you put your portfolio on display for grad schools. They sign up for interviews with you and offer deals to go to their schools, waved tuition, insurance, all sorts of good stuff...
Basically, it's a super big deal. It could be great for me. I am just very, very stressed out about it. I feel like I've been having a panic attack for about two weeks straight.
I was stressed out to begin with. Then my step-mother pretty much told me my chosen career field as well as my undergraduate degree were jokes and I'd not get a dime for grad school from them. I never asked for any assistance. It's the reason why I am going to this conference, something I told them two years ago when I decided that was what I was doing. I made it plenty clear I didn't want their help. I didn't even ask for much help for my undergraduate degree, paying for the vast majority all by myself. She knows I am not trying to get money for school. I have no reason to. She just said this because she wanted to make sure I knew that she thought I was a dumbass for trying to become a college professor for costuming and design. It was strictly to rub it in my face.
It's not like I expect people to understand, but this is a time in my life when I need support. I am straight up panicking about the conference and it made it just that much worse. It's hard to have confidence when people want to see you fail.

I wish you the best of luck at URTAs, Mirrin. It's your life to live, not your stepmother's.

Dog still here. I don't have kids for a reason. The only way she couldn't get through the gate was to chain a chair to it.

Why in the world would anyone have problems with someone getting an education unless they're just an a$$ and can't stand other people having happiness.

Mirrin, don't let her get to you. Go for it. It's good to have goals. Believe in yourself!

Does your step-mother have a talking mirror by any chance? Next time she says anything to you about your life, tell her 'No thanks, I don't care for any of your poison apples."
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Hey gang, Misty (victoriavictrix) is down with the flu and could use some good thoughts and prayers. She's been sick for 2 weeks now and has been in bed most of the time. So please leave some love here for her - we need our curmudgeonly old lady back to keep us kids in line! ;)
