Sheesh I'm gone for 9 hours and miss 5 pages of fun!

Ok now, where are my cookies?
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Ohhh you're THAT cat!!!! :) I used to hang with you in the Heliot waiting room. We were messaging back and forth cause I was gonna try to buy one of your Heliot heads before I just wound up doing a split of my own. :3

the question was more meant to be: what would you like to see contributed from us new people? what can we bring to the table? we do not want ten thousand new people to join but we have friends that we would like to feel welcome.

people here made me feel welcome. and so i came back. Liz, the OP, is my friend. i would like her to feel welcome here. you would love her. she would bake everyone cookies.

You're right, perhaps our initial response was a bit too defensive. I'm sure she only meant well. I really hope she's not too scared to post again now? We're usually really friendly

On-topic (although?): I don't think I could ever bake cookies. I think I'd eat the cookie dough without any of it reaching the oven.

Haha I think it's the same sort of internet rage one encounters when trying to offer constructive critique on an art piece. We all love this place so much, we go "grr" when someone hints that it's not good enough, even when that's not the intention at all!! <3 Don't be afraid, OP, we really are usually a nice group!

I'm the same way with cookie dough. My mom would buy those 'drop-n-bake' chocolate chip cookies to keep in the freezer, and I'd always go in and snag some of the frozen chunks of dough to eat. She'd go to make cookies and look at me "Did you eat all the cookie dough?"

Hello everyone, its the stirrer upper! So sorry guys, I had no idea this would cause such a powerful bunch of responses! Gotta say, I love the passion though! Let me try to explain...
By no means did I mean that this is not the best doll frum already, although, I guess the title does sorta imply that, huh? Wrong choice of wording I guess.
Anyway, I actually was implying the opposite. After looking around, what I saw was, a place where people were not judgemental or predudice in any way. That seems to be a rarity in the dollie world, at least from what Ive seen. I saw people who really liked this forum, and really felt it to be an invaluable 'sanctuary' .That is what probably makes you guys so passionate about calling this the best dollie forum ever already, and, to me, that should be shared with others which, in turn, would only continue to make the forum great.
And yes, I agree, size does not equal good. But I happen to know there are others, good people, that may not be aware of this place and would love to be accepted at a place where you can come without being afraid to post, where anyone is accepted for any passion of dolls they may have, including toys, vinyls, etc, and in that regard, more of the same kindred spirits, it could be a powerful thing. Needless to say, they have had bad experiences and have lost some of thier passion for being involved in forums, as have I. So, getting the word out to those that would be an asset to the forum, is more or less what I was getting at.
And, as Cat said, as an artist, sometimes a creative contribution in the way of tutorials and the like, can make forums attractive to others who cant neccessarily find good information elsewhere, and also be willing to share and help others with thier art. But again, not saying that this forum does not already have that, I know it does.
So all that being said, my apologies to those who were slightly offended, my gratitude to those who understood a little clearer what my meaning really was.
And my prefference would be peacan pie instead of cookies, ok if I make that for everyone? ;) ?

I honestly think word of mouth is the best advertising. Stinesculpture, would I be wrong in guessing Cat told you about this place? I know whenever I meet people in the doll hobby, I point them here. I've been lucky so far in that the worst I've encountered is a few stuck up folks in a single thread on DoA, and my local doll group is all very accepting folks. Most of us all own at least one ResinSoul doll, and a few of us own several, and it has nothing to do with how affordable they are, in comparison to most other brands. I have 2 friends that I've been trying to get to join this place, but one is only a lurker on DoA for the available information, and the other isn't really into other types of dolls, though she does own a few Monster High girls, which I'm customizing for her. I do most of her aesthetic work, actually. XD But she's not really a community person, so she shrugged and I let it go. Two other friends aren't into BJD but one does MLP and costuming, and she could find kindred spirits here, and maybe find a love for dolls as well, and the other is into BJD but very very shy.

To be honest I have nooo idea how I ever found the DS... I must have googled for a particular doll or specific info... I don't think I found the link on another website, which could be a good way to find the DS, perhaps. I could blog the link on my LJ, I've got dolly contacts there too :)
