Hubby took pity on me and gave me back my Luna doll 2 weeks early, so I'm sewing her a new outfit. I unboxed her this morning. Her box hair was so bad, I gave her a hot rinse and put her in curlers to dry.

Now I'm writing Magic Mixies fanfiction. Took a week to just grieve the state of reality and the outside world, but now I'm just thinking inward for now. Gotta stay safe and sane, or something.

I'm trying REALLY hard to pretend we're all having a collective nightmare right now and that we're all going to wake up soon, so I sympathize.

When unpleasant things happen you have to look at the situation(s) that lead to it, if any, and try and learn from them. As I say now- Don't be the reason we can't have nice things.

To use writing as an example I literally just finished a draft of a story where a few years ago it was comfortable how it was and just needed a satisfying place to stop. In the last few years I've reworked it 2-3 times because real world situations irritated me to the point I had to take related things out of the story just so I could live with it. Too much happened where people were given an inch, took a mile, then glued themselves to the pavement demanding more.

Writing, stories or journaling or whatever, is a healthy way to deal with the thoughts swirling in your head. If you don't want anyone else to see it get a Frixion and a reusable notebook and you can literally wash the paper clean.

Ive decided that once I get my workshop/life organized, I'd like to start scanning in and archiving the cardboard accessories from my vintage Kelly collection (and possibly some of the Barbies, though I don't have as much of that). Most of my collection came to me new in the box, so I have all the little cardboard pieces that were hidden behind the inner lining of the box. It's VERY hard to find information on these pieces, and the pieces themselves are even harder to find if you don't buy the dolls sealed in the box. I'd like to at least make them available to view (and possibly for collectors to print replacements for themselves).

Basically, my fear of things becoming lost media is overlapping with my love of archiving vintage doll information and is culminating in a new project.

Also, I'm planning to ACTUALLY start archiving my doll collection here once warm weather sets in and I can spend time in my workshop again.

As you can see, he's having a bit of a rough day.



And of course, I made it worse for him. I Black Dahliaed the poor boy.


He did manage to pull himself together eventually, though.



I think it was worth it. He can even stand on his own now!


I WILL need to do this again because this elastic really isn't the best, but it's better than what he had going on before.

All of this was made much easier thanks to my bent nosed tweezers from my set of static proof electronics tweezers. They have been a surprisingly useful investment for things besides fixing and cleaning my old video games.

Also, don't mind grandpas candy. I was NOT comitting the cardinal sin of eating chocolate while working on old dolls. He just left them on the table.

I'm sorting thru my fabric. I have less "normal prints" fabric than I thought, with one bin being solid colors or like basic dots or stripes, and another being just Halloween. Then again last year I busted thru most of the stash to make quilt squares just to finally use up stuff I've been carrying around all century. Also found some 1/6 doll clothes that have been cut out since ???
