OK the rejoice. Secret World Chronicles is on the final list for the Parsec Award. In podcasting this is like getting a Grammy nomination.

Now the dubious. So now at the last minute we are going to DragonCon. Which means finding a compromise between cheap hotel and distance from downtown Atlanta. And of course, the cost of the trip, and no one will be footing the bill for us on this one. All on the chance, unlikely as it seems, we win this thing. Am I nuts?

Yeah! Congratulations!
No, you're not nuts. If you do win and you're not there, how would you feel?
Unless of course, you're strapped for cash and won't be able to eat or pay living expenses if you go.
Hmm, do you have any friends going that would be willing to share hotel space? You could pack a lot of PB&J to cut down on food costs; my family does that all the time.
Good luck and best wishes,
Susan

We are committed.

The compromise is that we are staying at an airport hotel which is 1/3 the price of downtown. We will have a fridge and microwave, meaning we can save on food. And if we really do not want to try and park downtown we can take the free shuttle to the airport and pick up MARTA for $2 one way.

Of course that would be Last Resort since this IS Atlanta in summer.....

It's been hitting near 100 degrees for 2 weeks. No telling what it will be like the first of September, but it will be hot.

I was at the mall today, and in addition to the pile of dollar store crap I grabbed because it was about the right size for dolls (it's horrible, I cannot resist), I ducked into Petland to look at the puppies. We've never had a large pet because my dad's allergic to fur. And while I was in there I saw the dog collars and it hit me: they look like little belts! So I bought a black 12-inch one and it's pretty much perfect for my SD. The same size should work for the larger ones, too. Now I don't have to make a belt! Yay!

Also, aside from the beltloops his new jeans are done! It's so nice to see him them again, my dolls each seem to have an outfit that I always see them in when I think of them, no matter what they were actually wearing the last time I put them away, and for Ryo it's his black button shirt and black jeans. These new jeans are so much nicer than the ones I made for him before and they fit him better, they were a pain to make and took a long time but I'm so proud of them now that they're basically done. Five working pockets, embroidered detail on the back, snap closed in the front decorated with a "brass" button. He can wear them and look great, the loops and belt are just cause I want to. XD

Now I just need to pin down the style of dress I want to make for Peaseblossom out of the pretty cloth napkin I found and they'll all be ready for the picnic on Sunday.

I have officially purchased my AOD Qian! Emory ordered her at the beginning of the week and expects to get a delivery notice from AOD in about 4 weeks. She won't be here in time for Dragon*Con, but then again - I don't have to haul around a 58cm doll either! LOL! I've already bought her an outfit (a Fer!) that came with tights and shoes and a pair of eyes and a wig that hopefully will at least work for her initially.

Carrying a big doll is a great work out, you don't need weights! There was a time I could take one of the 70 twins out for a walk and feel good about the work out.
