I think no one - north, south, east, west - was really prepared for this winter. It hasn't been horrible for us up here, especially not when looking at the rest of the country, but it's been pretty brutal. We didn't have school today which was a godsend but I'm really, really nervous about tomorrow. I work in a little town near the Connecticut boarder and it's about an hour's drive from here to there. There have been multiple times this year where we've had school when no one else in the county has (for good reason) and most of the time it's fine until I get about 20 minutes away and then the roads haven't been plowed and I'm sliding going 20. I actually slid about 1000 feet and off the road on Monday morning because they hadn't done anything to the roads yet. The thought process is generally "well the kids live pretty close so why not have school?" which is fine but 97% of the faculty lives at least a half hour away.
The largest city near us has already called it for tomorrow but I'm not sure what'll happen with us. I'm praying because I really don't want to put my life at risk if it's still as bad as they say it'll be tomorrow morning.
