I think I may have gotten my wish! I've been quietly complaining about how unseasonably warm it's been recently; well today it's back to normal December temps (around 39F/4C) and there's snow in the forecast starting Saturday! It won't be fun driving home from CT Saturday if it's snowing but oh well, I'd rather snow in December than any other time of the year. It's the only precipitation that I truly like.

So one of my semi-grail dolls presents himself to me at a discounted rate or a head. And here I am going:
"Meh. I don't really want you all that much. You're just a one character project with not much in the cosplay/channeling my other headspace characters department. "

The bizzare part would be the fact that I have one character who is always trying to be my doll by hijacking any doll that I'm working on. And he is not showing any interest in Angel of Light Sabix in Super Gem format (65cm)

I would have thought a vain character like Balrog/Vega would have jumped at the chance to have an angel body but nooooo he's incredibly quiet about this

I need to get my priorities straight.

ugh - much as I love the way DZ Clare looks there seems to be something seriously off with either her stringing or joints as a whole...

She's gone from kicky, to super kicky and finally to can't stand up for even a second/ torso joints slouchy/collapsy. I've checked the elastics and they look fine so I've got no idea what's changed in the past week...

My RS guy stands far better than she ever did, and now she can't seem to manage it at all!

Not yet - I suspect that is the issue though - her left knee is shocking at holding itself in any position, and her hip joints seem far too aesthetically desgined, they keep wanting to be in the sitting position - they're incredibly shallow in terms of the cup of the pelvis...

She seems to either collapse under her own weight, lose all friction in the joints spontaneously, or curl up in a ball due to the tension in her elastic... (despite the fact that it's loosened considerably since she arrived)

ugh I've stored her safely in her box for now (frustration was beginning to turn to anger! I don't trust myself not to keep trying until something breaks next time she collapes in a heap (or decides to pinch, which would probably result in lots of swearing, and possibly accidental droppage))

gah - aesthetically she's perfect for her character - but posability, which is kind of useful when your doll is supposed to be an adventurer/cat burglar, is currently close to nil...

I found my DZ Helen to be a terrible "stander." Her blasted knees collapse when I let her go. I thought for the price the doll would stand with a little more stability.

Yeah - feeling a little put-out by this (especially since this seems to be a peculiarity to my particular DZ65cm here - other owners have reported stable standing, and have some rather jealousy inducing photos to prove it!)

I think the main problem is her left knee; in a sitting position, only weight on the joint the lower legs themselves - the right knee holds straight very solidly, but the left sags and gives quite a bit even when "locked".

Methinks a knee-brace as part of her outfit might be a temp. solution that avoids sueding the whole doll for now but we'll see... Her left knee just looks wrong somehow, as though the pieces don't quite slot together right - there's lots of little visible gaps that just aren't there in the other leg (and the somewhat complicated joint sections appear to be in the correct orientation/order)

*hmph that discovery didn't come without cost though, I've now got a blood blister on my index finger*

After over a year off, somehow I've been convinced to play WoW again. Arg! I have so much other stuff to be doing! Like scanning the last of gramma's recipes, or the other games I'm still playing, or crafting. But.....It really will be like coming home to walk into Undercity again.
