Is there a way to do cheap and easy sound proofing because SOMEONE IN THE HOUSE THINKS WE HAVE TO HEAR ALL OF HER PHONE AND INTERNET CONVERSATIONS no matter what hour of the day or night. ~wish I could cut her vocal chords~

Earplugs? You can get packs of the squishy foam disposable kind at grocery stores or dollar stores for relatively cheap. I have to wear them for work every night.

Speaking of Dollar Stores, I was planning to go to one along with Hobby Lobby and a small thrift store when the power went out. :/ I was just about to check out too.

I'll second the squishy foam earplugs - some of the people at work have to wear them when they're on one of the ticket desks and there's a loud, live performance on the nearby stage (yes, we have a ticket desk that can be selling and dispensing tickets right next to a stage) and they swear by them. They're also good at blocking snoring, too (the yeti used to snore really badly and it was the only way I could get any sleep!)

Alternatively, a few fans for the white noise.

Or very loud music ;) (I'd probably not recommend that if you'll have to be living in the same house as them for any length of time...)

I picked up some ear muffs at Harbor freight or another tool place, the sort used for construction, rather than the ear plugs when it came to the Evil Overlord's occasionally loud projects or fits of swearing. For one, you save money in the long run as they're not disposable. For two, they're usually under $5 a pair (and shipping if you're not near one of the Harbor Freight stores). And three, I was worried about earplugs causing ear infections if worn too often or too long.

Those are the exact ones I have. They're really pretty comfortable once you get used to them.

I hate squishy ear plugs, I just can't stand how they fill your ear completely and like.. suck it into a vacuum..? I HATE HATE them. I can't wear them. Am I weird? Nobody else has a problem with the way they feel inside your ears? :o

I don't like being able to hear my heartbeat like I do when I wear earplugs.

I can't sleep with ear plugs and I'm the only one in the house who sleeps without the TV running. Especially after my TBI I like a quiet place to sleep.

Don't get me started on power outages, although with no Skype she'd shut up, we had a 3 day one because some kids decided to mess with one of the main lines to the area. At least then we had a car and could go somewhere to eat, the stove has an electric starter. If it happened now I don't know what we'd do.
