Actually, the urethane Gumdrops, I think they're called? The colors are BRILLIANT. I can see an obvious difference between those and other eyes of the same colors. There's a pair called apple green, I think. I've NEVER found a green that bright in any other cheaper brand. They're gorgeous! But, I just can't bring myself to spend $60 for a pair of eyes. I think the most I've ever paid is $26 for Soom's soft glass eyes. Other than that I stick to the cheapies.

Yeah I think the eyes would have to be pretty spectacular to make me lay down much more than £30 - the closest I've gotten is the Bowie-pair, and that's only because they were complete customs

Woah -completely forgot; the opening sequence of SGU S1E1 is pretty spectacular, it completely sets up the darker tone compared with the other series

(And I don't just mean the lighting!)

The only eyes I ever paid serious money for were Sooms, one is a set of spiders because spiders, the other were Xavier's because they're green and the name is Luciferin. His father is Lucifer who gave the family their green eyes so it was a sign. The rest I bought have been Masterpiece plastic half rounds, Glastic Realistic 8mm, or Dollzone. Two of my dolls have default eyes and I traded for Taffy's but I'm guessing they're Masterpiece because of the shape.

And I have an idea for my website. If I take pictures of a doll against a standard and common size grid, like a cutting mat, would that work so you could compare it to another doll? I have a few dolls that I only need for comparisons and would otherwise like to part with them.

The most I ever paid for a pair of eyes was $30. Everything else I have are $15 and less. Or free! I have loads of free eyes since I never keep the sets that come with the dolls. :-)

The most I have paid for eyes were the customs I had made for Noble (with the bloody eye) at $45.00 I have started buying Mako eyes recently at $25.00, and so far they have been well worth the price.

That's the thing - much as I love the brightness of urethanes I just don't think they look particularly natural; all the ones I have access to have a real glow to them, which is great for fantasy/scifi characters but no so much my human ones. I like the realistic look of those artist blown glass eyes, but then I think good acrylics can match them at a much lower price so I've never bothered to take the plunge.

I thought about buying some but I wasn't sure how good they were in person.

Right now I only have one because the green pair I bought ended up being too teal, but the blue ones in my DOI Camine are gorgeous. I have two more pairs on order.
