I made some shea butter oatmeal soap. I garnished it with zeal and had to knock off a lot of extra oats. ZEAL!!

I was abou to say that looks good enough to eat.

I'm using old fashioned air dry clay to make my doll parts as it's already open for the ball joint I'm working on.

I am going to paint my office. All the dolls are boxed, again. I should have just gone with my gut feeling and painted it when I first moved in but I thought I could skip it. This funky tan just absorbs all the light in the room. It's too dark and makes all my doll pictures look orange. I can't do a good photostory like this, so I'm painting this week. YAY!!! This means I'm taking down everything I spent forever putting up, hahaha. Oh well.

I just got some outfits on Etsy for my three little ones, but I am also playing a lot with my Lammily, Afanen. I've given her a haircut to an asymmetrical bob, and made her a pair of "Ugg" style boots from felt and a necklace. I've also worked a lot on my dollhouse. Working in different scales is kind of confusing! Also I never knew there was so much 1/6 stuff for military action figures- so tempted to make Afanen more of a tough girl than she looks!

Right now, I'm hating my brain because it did that thing again.... that thing where I start out with something perfectly simple and... *sigh*

I was going to just make a little cloth doll diaper based on a bigger one meant for a doll (instead of a real cloth diaper). I got as far as a paper towel mockup when my brain goes 'but, it doesn't really look that much like a diaper'. And I start noticing all the missing details...

Now, instead of something simple to cover a Kelly's butt with, I have a sketched pattern involving two pattern pieces, each of which needs cut twice on fold, two sections of velcro, three sections of elastic thread, acrylic paints, and a teeny 1/8 inch seam allowance (that, thank goodness, I think I can overcast stitch if I'm very careful to be tiny about it).

As opposed to the pattern I started with which would have involved one piece and the velcro.

My brain does that too and it's okay. Go a little beyond your skills and comfort zone to experiment and learn each time you feel the need. It's not about finishing as much as it's about trying to do that thing. Ask all the ball joint dolls I've been trying to make forever.

I am actually sewing a coat for myself. Not a winter coat, more like a spring coat with floral details. Not sure if I will be able to get WIP pictures, but i will make sure to post the finished product.

I've been given 15 pounds of wool stripped for rug hooking.

I guess I'm gonna hook a rug!

Technically not working on it any more. Just finished a sleeveless kimono-inspired wrap for the Yeti's Loonette. It was supposed to be a kimono, but I started off badly by following the instructions, which had you set the sleeves after the side seams were sewn; and then I realised I had forgotten to iron the fabric. So I finished sewing the sleeves and the body, and started to iron prior to setting the sleeves. Fortunately I started with a sleeve and not the body as I completely failed to notice that a) the steam iron had no water in it, and b) it was on its highest setting. I also completely forgot I need to iron the fabric I used with a damp cloth otherwise it burns to a crisp and leaves half of itself welded to the iron (the iron is non stick, so it peeled off when it had cooled down ) Sleeves are in the bin; I'll do a proper one another day!

Richi got a new dress and wig for 12th night. She had just gotten a new wig, but it was too modern looking for a Renaissance style gown.

The other problem with this wig was that her crown wouldn't fit.

That's better.

I am working on a prayer shawl for a friend who lost er mother just before Christmas. I thought I was finished yesterday, until I had a friend try it-it was too wide and too short, so I am doing it over. I want it to be a warm hug for her.
