Loosing a pet is hard. I have already had a fair share of that my pets dying or in cats case, disappearing. At least your friend died next to you and not somewhere else. To this day I don't know that exactly happened to my cats. They just went out and never returned...

When my deeply loved cat (mother of my current cat) disappeared and my dog died I also made a song for them. Actually, they were gone for a whole year when I wrote that song but I just couldn't forget that pain.
I really loved them. But I really love my current cat as well. He's awfully sweet and very calm 6 years old cat and I adore him. I loved his mother but he's also very special to me and right now I don't think any cat will be able to replace him. As for my poor dog, she was like a sister to me...
