I want to point something out to Kizuna: Things out in the trash are considered public property, and up for grabs to whoever wants them. (Like if you throw old furniture out on the corner for the trash to pick up, it's basically saying it's free to anyone who wants to take it before the trash is collected. A lot of people who restore furniture get pieces to restore this way.) Admits she was thrown away, so she's TECHNICALLY up for grabs. The hitch is of course whether or not it was actually Bob or Sarah who tossed her out. If it WASN'T Sarah, her original owner, who physically disposed of her, then there could be a dispute over if she still belongs to Sarah if Sarah unless Sarah cannot prove ownership (basically, did she keep her online receipt or has she lost access to or deleted it). If she can't prove ownership, since Finn was thrown out, she is free to whoever wants her. If Sarah, the original owner, actually IS the one who physically placed Finn in the trash, there's no contest, Finn is officially public property and there's no need to prove ownership.

I'm sure this whole story is already planned out, but this is just future reference for Kizuna to file away, since we all know, with Kizuna, this info might be useful down the line.

This is only true when the trash/trash can is not on private property (And potentially only true in the USA, I've never looked into trash laws in other countries, though moot in this case as I think K2 is in the USA).
It's potentially a bit more complicated in an apartment complex, as the trash room is technically the private property of the complex owners, not that I suspect the complex owners care if a tenant is pulling things out of the trash as long as they're not making a mess (It's potentially a boon as I know some trash services charge companies based on volume and/or weight).

The other issue is if Brob threw Finn out without Sarah's permission it could easily be considered a matter of theft(dollnapping?) due to Brob stealing (dollnapping) Finn before discarding her in the trash room.

I work in a student dormitory (which I imagine is quite similar to an apartment) and taking from the trash is STEALING. We could lose our jobs if we take something from the trash. Also, "dumpster diving" is not legal. (last I knew) So yeah, I don't think that just taking Finn would be "ok".

Keep scheming Kizuna! I'm sure you'll figure it out.
